Writers Write:
A Day By Day Path to Success

___By J.E. Ayers Brooks

INTRODUCTIONHaving written and learned all about writing and editing as a career path, I have found that I am on the verge of creating an opportunity to break into the field. Independent research is a stable path to success only if the research is applied, and I have found that it is time to implement a schedule to follow to the end of the rainbow.

Structure is Key

In any business, the best way to go forward with achieving one’s goals is to follow a set plan, map out a course of action in forming the bonds and relationships with others that will help you along the way. This is a designated course designed in a particular manner that fits the needs and expectations based on your own talents  and abilities. I have created six websites at this point, which are receiving nominal attention, and not generating ANY income. I sat down and reviewed my research and goals and found that I am in gear for getting contracted work, I just need to organize and implement the strategies all of my wonderful teachers along the way have shown me. I am going to do this by actually scheduling myself to specific tasks on my calendar for each day to accomplish my dreams and make them my reality.

Anatomy of a Writer’s Dream

To be able to designate realistic achievable goals, we must first evaluate what the target finish for each writing project or job, production or publication is. That is to formulate a clear vision of what the finished product will be, and how to get it there and sell to a marketed audience.

  1. Book Proposals

One of the closest products to my heart would be selling books through a publishing company on areas of my expertise. Along the way with this comes the value at heart of teaching what life’s lessons along the way have given to me to share with people who could relate, and benefit. Writing these proposals and sending them off, creating the correspondence between you and those who could help it get widespread attention also serves as a backdrop process for outlining and creating the initial stages for writing the book itself, and being so motivated along the way, writing it.

  1. Expert Topic Copy Writing

Probably the most valuable and informative contribution to the writing world you can make is the fun task of assembling and interviewing experts on a topic you find to be of use and fascinating. The course of action is to gather your sources and their arguments of the topic, notate what your thoughts are, and then send off, say 100 letters to the writers themselves to invite them to get their input on the subject directly. Let them know you will be getting it published, tell them what publications you are querying or working with upon acquisition, and that there will be backlinks and, obviously, credit given. Tell them who else in the field you are corresponding with and what the indications are of the importance of the work in a relatable field. After interviewing them, and finding the proper place for it, publish it and value the contacts you have added to your colleagues list.

     3.  Film and Television

The daunting task of trying to find a possible niche in film and television is probably the most wide open industry demanding new material on a constant basis. I am new to this field, but have high hopes for the use of my writing for creation of onscreen cinema and series. The basics of this part of the goal achieving will test me to rely on the things I learned doing sales jobs over the years. Essentially look up the production companies, call and email them, get through the gatekeeper, and establish relationships with the producers who make the productions happen. In establishing these relationships, create a dialogue mapping out more precisely what the different parameters, forms, budget and scope of the projects these companies are looking to take on to create and release their successes.

     4. Self Publishing

A very important part of the business is learning the facets of the business as you would be doing them yourself, in order to more fully understand and appreciate what it is these roles are taken on within the companies that you would have represent you. Part of my regimen is going to be continuing to write my various projects, and publish and market them, honestly prepare them for use in the other facets of my journey to writing success.

Structure

Those are some of the key elements of the tasks I am going to be doing on a regular basis, and the most important factor is the most crucial to success in anything, application. In order to more fully liberate the creative juices on a regular basis, I have to set the time factors as my own self imposed deadlines, and be a self starter every day.

If there is a will, there is a way. Purpose, pattern, projection. Perseverance is the main ingredient, so buckle up, and floor yourself into writing success.

Boy, I hope so, cause this is good stuff. Tell yourself that every day until you start getting those contacts telling you, because you know what you are doing better than anyone else.

Well Wishes!
